deep sea INFOGRAPHIC
The idea for this project was to create an infographic revolving around creatures that lived in the deep sea. I wanted to pursue this topic as I have always been fascinated by sea life, and I wanted to feature animals that humans rarely come into contact with. The environment these creatures live in is so different from ours that I believed many people would be interested in finding out how they adapted.
I decided to focus on nine different creatures: Blobfish, Fangtooth Fish, Fried Egg Jellyfish, Frilled Shark, Giant Isopod, Giant Squid, Spider Crab, Tube Worm, and Vampire Squid. Each animal is distinctive in its appearance and behavior. I believed using these creatures would be sufficient in giving a broad overview of the many different animals that live deep underwater.

ICONS created
With the icons created, I wanted to make them distinctive to show off each animal's unique characteristics and distinctive forms. With my final version of the icons I used thin tapering lines to help unite the system and show notable features such as fin shape or textures.

Here are some close ups of elements that were included in the final design. The icon system was faded more toward the back to not be overemphasized in the design and two data visualizations were added to give more information about the creatures.
